{"id":52388,"date":"2020-03-11T15:21:48","date_gmt":"2020-03-11T22:21:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/?p=52388"},"modified":"2020-03-11T15:22:34","modified_gmt":"2020-03-11T22:22:34","slug":"rights-to-star-trek-a-big-asset-for-viacomcbs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trektoday.com\/content\/2020\/03\/rights-to-star-trek-a-big-asset-for-viacomcbs\/","title":{"rendered":"Rights To Star Trek A Big Asset For ViacomCBS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Speaking with<em> CNN Business<\/em> recently, <strong>Jeff Bock<\/strong>, senior analyst at entertainment research firm <em>Exhibitor Relations<\/em>, acknowledged the impact that<em> Star Trek<\/em> has had on <em>ViacomCBS<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>Star Trek<\/em> is as important to <em>ViacomCBS <\/em>as<em> Star Wars<\/em> is to<em> Disney<\/em>,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Basically, it&#8217;s a never-ending stream of content.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><em>CBS All Access<\/em> is now &#8220;extending&#8221; the <em>Star Trek<\/em> franchise &#8220;across the house,&#8221; said <strong>Bob Bakish<\/strong>, <em>ViacomCBS<\/em>&#8216; CEO.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s a &#8220;scarcity value to key franchises,&#8221; like <em>Star Trek<\/em>,&#8221; said <strong>Bernie McTernan<\/strong>, who is a senior analyst at<em> Rosenblatt Securities<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Just the connection of the <em>Star Trek<\/em> universe with <em>CBS All Access<\/em> is a very important driver of awareness and interest in the service,&#8221; said <strong>Julie McNamara<\/strong>, who is the executive vice president and head of programming for<em> CBS All Access.
