{"id":53942,"date":"2021-01-11T10:26:12","date_gmt":"2021-01-11T18:26:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/?p=53942"},"modified":"2021-01-11T10:26:12","modified_gmt":"2021-01-11T18:26:12","slug":"critics-choice-super-awards-trek-winners","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trektoday.com\/content\/2021\/01\/critics-choice-super-awards-trek-winners\/","title":{"rendered":"Critics Choice Super Awards Trek Winners"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The winners of the inaugural <em>Critics Choice Super Awards<\/em> were announced yesterday. <strong>Sir Patrick Stewart<\/strong> was one of the winners and the <em>Star Trek<\/em> franchise was another.<\/p>\n<p><em>Star Trek<\/em> had received seven nominations, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Star Trek: Picard<\/em> for <em>Best Science Fiction\/Fantasy Series<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Patrick Stewart<\/strong> for <em>Best Actor in a Science Fiction\/Fantasy Series<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Star Trek: Discovery<\/em> for <em>Best Science Fiction\/Fantasy Series<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Sonequa Martin-Green<\/strong> for <em>Best Actress in a Science Fiction\/Fantasy Series<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Star Trek: Lower Decks<\/em> for <em>Best Animated Series<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Star Trek: Lower Decks<\/em> <strong>Jack Quaid<\/strong> for <em>Best Voice Actor<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Star Trek: Lower Decks<\/em> <strong>Tawney Newsome<\/strong> for<em> Best Voice Actress<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Picard was the only winner from the seven nominations.<em> Star Trek: Picard<\/em> and <em>Star Trek: Discovery<\/em> lost out to<em> The Mandalorian<\/em>. Martin-Green lost out to <strong>Natasia Demetriou<\/strong> (<em>What We Do in the Shadows<\/em>). <em>Lower Decks<\/em> lost out to <em>Bojack Horseman<\/em>. Quaid lost out to <strong>Will Arnett<\/strong>, and Newsome lost out to <strong>Kaley Cuoco.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <em>Star Trek<\/em> franchise was presented the <em>Legacy Award<\/em>, &#8220;recognizing the cultural impact it has had across multiple decades while continuing to appeal to and grow its loyal fanbase with new stories and characters.&#8221; The award was accepted by Stewart and Martin-Green.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;On behalf of my <em>Star Trek: Discovery<\/em> family and the many extraordinary television series and films that inhabit the <em>Star Trek<\/em> Universe,&#8221; said Martin-Green; &#8220;I would like to thank the <em>Critics Choice Association<\/em> for honoring all of us, and most importantly <strong>Gene Roddenberry<\/strong>&#8216;s timeless vision, with your first-ever <em>Legacy Award<\/em>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Stewart told viewers that he and Martin-Green represented the &#8220;heart&#8221; of<em> Star Trek<\/em>.
