{"id":54741,"date":"2021-07-14T09:59:16","date_gmt":"2021-07-14T16:59:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/?p=54741"},"modified":"2021-07-14T10:00:29","modified_gmt":"2021-07-14T17:00:29","slug":"wandavision-director-to-direct-next-trek-film","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trektoday.com\/content\/2021\/07\/wandavision-director-to-direct-next-trek-film\/","title":{"rendered":"WandaVision Director To Direct Next Trek Film"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The day after being nominated for an <em>Emmy<\/em> for his work on <em>Marvel Studios<\/em> TV series <em>WandaVision<\/em>, <strong>Matt Shakman<\/strong> has been named by <em>Paramount Pictures<\/em> and<em> Bad Robot<\/em> as the director for the next<em> Star Trek<\/em> film.<\/p>\n<p>According to<em> Deadline<\/em>, the A-list director &#8220;chose <em>Star Trek<\/em> over several other offers&#8230;a coup for <em>Paramount<\/em>&#8216;s motion picture group studio chairman <strong>Emma Watts<\/strong>, who pushed hard to land Shakman.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Production will begin in Spring 2021 on the film, which is based on a script by <strong>Lindsey Beer<\/strong> and<strong> Geneva Robertson-Dworet<\/strong> (<em>Captain Marvel, Tomb Raider<\/em>).
