Star Trek XI <\/i>has not hit the big screen yet, but plans are already afoot for a sequel to it.<\/p>\n

As reported by Variety<\/a>, Paramount has hired Roberto Orci<\/b>, Alex Kurtzman<\/b> and Damon Lindelof<\/b> to write the screenplay for the sequel to Star Trek XI<\/i> and they plan on submitting their script by Christmas. <\/p>\n

J.J. Abrams<\/b> and Bryan Burk<\/b> will return to produce Star Trek XII<\/i>, which will probably appear in summer of 2011. Orci, Kurtzman and Lindelof will also be credited as producers.<\/p>\n

“There’s obviously a lot of hubris involved in signing on to write a sequel of a movie that hasn’t even come out yet,” said Lindelof. “But we’re so excited about the first one, that we wanted to proceed.”<\/p>\n

The story is still in its infancy, but the writers will take fan reaction to Star Trek XI<\/i> into account. “Obviously we discussed ideas,” said Kurtzman, “but we are waiting to see how audiences respond next month.” <\/p>\n
