New comic to explain Nero’s activities while waiting for Spock to arrive in the alternate timeline.<\/p>\n
As reported by Comic Book Resources<\/a>, the success of Star Trek: Countdown<\/i> has made possible Star Trek: Nero<\/i>, in which fans will finally get to know what Nero was doing during those twenty-five years while he was waiting for Spock to arrive. “We were planning for this series even before Countdown was written,” explained co-writer Mike Johnson<\/b>. “We wanted to wait to see how Countdown did as a gauge for the audience’s appetite for new Trek comics, but luckily Countdown has done really well so that encouraged us to go ahead with our plans for Nero.” According to Johnson, who is co-writing Star Trek: Nero<\/i> with Tim Jones<\/b>, “The basic story in the series derives from Alex<\/b> [Kurtzman<\/b>] and Bob<\/b>‘s [Orci<\/b>] screenplay for the movie, including scenes that we don’t see in the final cut.”<\/p>\n Fans will get more insight into Nero, and see how the twenty-five years of waiting for Spock has affected him. “Nero definitely believes he is on the right side of things and we see more of that in this series,” said Johnson, “particularly how he stays committed to his cause during the years before he meets up with the elder Spock again.”<\/p>\n “We love Nero,” added Jones. ” I think that affection will be reflected in his perspective and motivations.” <\/p>\n The two writers gave a quick listing of Nero’s activities for the twenty-five years. ” Let’s see,” said Johnson. “Robau, prison, ear damage, green blood, the Narada, explosions, astrophysics, red matter, 47 Klingon ships. And more.” <\/p>\n “He is getting so pissed off,” said Jones.
