{"id":7546,"date":"2009-10-19T15:55:39","date_gmt":"2009-10-19T22:55:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/?p=7546"},"modified":"2009-10-19T15:57:11","modified_gmt":"2009-10-19T22:57:11","slug":"star-trek-xi-scream-2009-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trektoday.com\/content\/2009\/10\/star-trek-xi-scream-2009-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"Star Trek XI Scream 2009 Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Star Trek XI<\/em> had a respectable showing at the Scream 2009 awards this weekend, walking away with a half dozen awards, including the biggest one of all.<\/p>\n<p>Although the vampire shows and movies were popular award choices, <em>Star Trek XI<\/em> did quite well, picking up at least six of the seventeen nominations for which it was nominated.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Three big awards were for Best Science Fiction Movie, Best Director (<strong>J.J. Abrams<\/strong>) and The Ultimate Scream, which is the highest award offered.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Morgan Freeman<\/strong> was the presenter for the Ultimate Scream Award (basically a &#8220;Best in Show&#8221; award,) and fans were surprised when none other than <strong>William Shatner<\/strong> stepped onto the stage to accept the award. &#8220;J.J., I&#8217;ll handle this,&#8221; he said to the winning director, who as seated in the audience. &#8220;This movie was big,&#8221; said Shatner. &#8220;Imagine how big it could have been with me in it. I&#8217;ll be waiting for your call.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>For his part, Abrams enjoyed being at the award ceremony. &#8220;I feel at home here,&#8221; he said. &#8220;The people in this audience are the same people we depend on when making these movies.<\/p>\n<p>One oddity about the Scream Awards show is that award presentations weren&#8217;t aired if the winner(s) weren&#8217;t present to accept. Three <em>Star Trek XI actors<\/em> were not present but won:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Best Cameo &#8211; <strong>Winona Ryder<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Best Actor &#8211; <strong>Chris Pine<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Fight-to-the-Death Scene of the Year &#8211; <strong>Zachary Quinto<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The categories in which <em>Star Trek XI<\/em> or its actors lost are listed below, with the except of\u00a0 Holy Sh_t! Scene of the Year and Best Screenplay. For those categories, results have not yet been posted.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> Best Villain. <strong>Eric Bana<\/strong> lost out to <strong>Alexander Skarsgard <\/strong>of <em>True Blood<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>Best Actress. <strong>Zoe Saldana<\/strong> lost out to <strong>Megan Fox<\/strong> of <em>Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>Breakout Performance \u2013 Female.
