{"id":7774,"date":"2009-11-14T20:33:01","date_gmt":"2009-11-15T04:33:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/?p=7774"},"modified":"2009-11-14T20:33:01","modified_gmt":"2009-11-15T04:33:01","slug":"jumpcon-founder-pleads-guilty","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trektoday.com\/content\/2009\/11\/jumpcon-founder-pleads-guilty\/","title":{"rendered":"JumpCon Founder Pleads Guilty"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>JumpCon founder <strong>Shane Senter<\/strong> was charged by the State of New Hampshire with violations of the New Hampshire Consumer Protection Act and two theft charges.<\/p>\n<p>Last summer, Senter canceled the Boston JumpCon, as reported at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/2009\/04\/jumpcon-organizer-indicted\/\">TrekToday<\/a>. &#8220;Many factors that needed to come together to make it happen simply did not,&#8221; Senter explained at the time. &#8220;We tried everything humanly possible and were unable to overcome the insurmountable obstacles.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->But some of Senter&#8217;s tactic were less than ethical. He blamed <strong>Robert Picardo<\/strong> (EMH) for canceling and having a &#8220;schedule conflict.&#8221; Picardo had not canceled but had had his name removed from JumpCon&#8217;s website by JumpCon itself.<\/p>\n<p>Fans had been led to believe that <strong>John Billingsley<\/strong> (Dr. Phlox) was going to be in attendance even though Billingsley had requested that his name be removed from JumpCon&#8217;s website well ahead of the convention.<\/p>\n<p>Senter has agreed to plead guilty to the charges and the State has recommended a suspended sentence at the House of Corrections, five years probation and restitution to all victims of his operation of JumpCon.
