{"id":7778,"date":"2009-11-14T20:40:31","date_gmt":"2009-11-15T04:40:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/?p=7778"},"modified":"2009-11-14T23:56:24","modified_gmt":"2009-11-15T07:56:24","slug":"hey-that-aint-kirk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trektoday.com\/content\/2009\/11\/hey-that-aint-kirk\/","title":{"rendered":"Hey, That Ain&#8217;t Kirk!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>What happens when a bad Halloween <em>Star Trek<\/em> photo on a costume package and Emmy-winning <em>Star Trek: Voyage<\/em>r computer graphics animator <strong>&#8220;Mojo&#8221;<\/strong> meet? <em>Star Trek<\/em> fans start firing up their various graphic editing projects.<\/p>\n<p>Right before Halloween, Mojo was in a costume store collecting a few things for his own costume when a <em>Star Trek<\/em> costume, seen <a href=\"http:\/\/darthmojo.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/11\/kirk_costume.jpg?w=337&amp;h=534\">here<\/a>, caught his eye. &#8220;I encountered the above abomination at the Halloween store,&#8221; said Mojo. &#8220;Generally speaking, they choose a model for the packaging that at least bears some vague physical similarity to the person or character they\u2019re trying to market \u2013 but in this case, WTF?!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Instead of going home and drowning his sorrows in a keg of Romulan ale, Mojo blogged about it, and encouraged creative <em>Star Trek<\/em> fans to imagine how it would have been had the hapless model actually landed the part of James T. Kirk. &#8220;What if there was no Shatner?&#8221; asked Mojo. &#8220;Help the world visualize this with your mad Photoshop skills.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Fans responded and the entries poured in.
