{"id":7977,"date":"2009-12-11T20:11:49","date_gmt":"2009-12-12T04:11:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/?p=7977"},"modified":"2016-09-11T04:23:22","modified_gmt":"2016-09-11T11:23:22","slug":"star-trek-xi-makes-academy-visual-effects-list","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trektoday.com\/content\/2009\/12\/star-trek-xi-makes-academy-visual-effects-list\/","title":{"rendered":"Star Trek XI Makes Academy Visual Effects List"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the fifteen semi-finalists for the Oscar&#8217;s Best Visual Effects category.<\/p>\n<p><em>Star Trek XI<\/em> has made the first cut, joining other blockbusters from 2009 such as <em>Avatar, 2012<\/em> and T<em>ransformers: Revenge of the Fallen <\/em>for consideration.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-7978\" title=\"121109STX\" src=\"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/121109STX.gif\" alt=\"121109STX\" width=\"102\" height=\"150\" \/>The others making the list of semi-finalists include: <em>Where the Wild Things Are, District 9, Coraline, Disney&#8217;s A Christmas Carol, G-Force, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Sherlock Holmes, Terminator Salvation, Angels &amp; Demons <\/em>and <em>Watchmen<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The list of fifteen will be whittled down to seven in January.
