{"id":8418,"date":"2010-02-15T13:45:09","date_gmt":"2010-02-15T21:45:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/?p=8418"},"modified":"2010-02-15T13:45:09","modified_gmt":"2010-02-15T21:45:09","slug":"london-star-trek-fans-set-world-record","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trektoday.com\/content\/2010\/02\/london-star-trek-fans-set-world-record\/","title":{"rendered":"London Star Trek Fans Set World Record"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Millennium Bridge in London hosted an unusual gathering yesterday, when <em>Star Trek<\/em> fans dressed as various <em>Star Trek<\/em> characters tried to make a Guinness world record for most fans dressed as <em>Star Trek<\/em> characters.<\/p>\n<p>In an event organized by Namco Bandai as part of a promotion for the S<em>tar Trek: Online<\/em> MMORPG game, fans were encouraged to appear at the Millennium Bridge on Valentine&#8217;s Day to set the new record.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-8419\" title=\"MillenniumBridgeTrek2Feb152010\" src=\"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/MillenniumBridgeTrek2Feb152010.gif\" alt=\"MillenniumBridgeTrek2Feb152010\" width=\"164\" height=\"166\" \/>Ninety-nine fans appeared at the event, costumed as Klingons, Cardassians, Mirror-Universe characters, Vulcans, Borg and Federation officers from various <em>Star Trek<\/em> eras.<\/p>\n<p>Guinness World Records (Gamer&#8217;s Edition) Editor <strong>Gaz Deaves <\/strong>encouraged other <em>Star Trek<\/em> fans worldwide to try to surpass yesterday&#8217;s new record. &#8220;\u201cWe&#8217;re pleased to kick off this category here in London and hope other <em>Star Trek<\/em> fans around the world will come forward to break this record again,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The turnout today was nothing short of fantastic,&#8221; said Namco Bandai Head of Public Relations <strong>Lee Kirton<\/strong>. &#8220;We&#8217;re absolutely delighted to have been involved in this record breaking activity and it&#8217;s a testament to the <em>Star Trek<\/em> fans&#8217;
