{"id":8467,"date":"2010-02-22T11:38:47","date_gmt":"2010-02-22T19:38:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/?p=8467"},"modified":"2010-02-22T11:38:47","modified_gmt":"2010-02-22T19:38:47","slug":"star-trek-xi-comes-up-empty-at-wga-and-bafta","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trektoday.com\/content\/2010\/02\/star-trek-xi-comes-up-empty-at-wga-and-bafta\/","title":{"rendered":"Star Trek XI Comes Up Empty At WGA and BAFTA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This weekend, the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) awards ceremonies were held and <em>Star Trek XI<\/em> lost in all three categories for which it was nominated.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alex Kurtzman <\/strong>and<strong> Roberto Orci<\/strong> were nominated in the Best Adapted Screenplay category by the WGA, and they were up against <em>Crazy Heart, Julie &amp; Julia, Precious: Based on the novel &#8216;Push&#8217; by Sapphire <\/em>and<em> Up in the Air<\/em>. <em>Up in the Air<\/em> was the winner.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->The next day, the BAFTA award ceremony was held. <em>Star Trek XI<\/em> was nominated in two categories, Best Sound and Special Visual Effects.<\/p>\n<p>In the Best Sound category, <em>Star Trek XI<\/em> &#8216;s competition was: <em>Avatar, District 9, The Hurt Locker <\/em>and<em> Up<\/em>. <em>The Hurt Locker<\/em> won.<\/p>\n<p>For Special Visual Effects, <em>Star Trek XI<\/em> was up against: A<em>vatar, District 9, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince <\/em>and <em>The Hurt Locker<\/em>.
