On Sunday night, Star Trek XI<\/em> collected yet another award, this one courtesy of the 2010 Jameson Empire Awards.<\/p>\n

Nominated for three Empire awards; Best Sci-Fi\/Fantasy Film, Best Director and Best Film; Star Trek XI<\/em> won for best Sci-Fi\/Fantasy movie.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>In winning the award, Star Trek XI<\/em> beat out Moon, Avatar, District 9 <\/em>and The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Simon Pegg<\/strong> (Scotty) was on hand to accept the trophy for the Best Sci-Fi\/Fantasy Film win. “It’s nice to see some recognition,” he said. “Star Trek<\/em> was a hard thing to do. J.J. Abrams<\/strong> did it with amazing aplomb. He took a story that people were starting to lose interest in, in the mainstream, and brought it back to a larger audience.”<\/p>\n

For the other two nominations, Abrams lost to James Cameron<\/strong> (Avatar<\/em>) for Best Director, and Star Trek XI<\/em> lost out to Avatar<\/em> for Best Film.<\/p>\n

Zo\u00eb Saldana<\/strong> walked away with Best Actress honors for her work in Avatar<\/em>, beating out Anne-Marie Duff, Carey Mulligan, Emily Blunt <\/strong>and Melanie Laurent<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Empire Awards, started in 1995, are voted on by readers of Empire Magazine<\/em>.<\/p>\n
