Being the sole woman on a set doesn’t bother Zo\u00eb Saldana<\/strong>, who can hold her own with a group of men.<\/p>\n

At times though, Saldana feels like she has to do more so that she isn’t perceived as someone who can’t carry a full load.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>“I almost feel like you have twice as much work to do because you don’t want to be singled out,” she explained. “If you’re the one who says ‘I can’t do this,’ everyone’s going to say ‘She’s wimping out because she’s a girl.’ I really wanted to impress the guys.”<\/p>\n

But Saldana has no problem with being the sole female in a group of men. “I like being around men,” she said. “I think I can hold my own.”<\/p>\n

Saldana has issues with how Hollywood perceives women though. “I feel that Hollywood has made a living portraying women to be such canker sores,” she said. “We have to be rescued all the time because we’re so incompetent. Art needs to reflect what’s going on in real life. I’m from Queens in the 80s. Women were the caretakers and they were the soldiers. I like holding a gun and participating in the saving of the day.
