It may have taken a few times, but this time, Leonard Nimoy<\/strong> is retiring for real.<\/p>\n

Every time that Nimoy had retired, or thought he had retired, he kept getting sucked back into work. “Countless times, I thought it was done,” he said.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>But Nimoy is ready to be finished with acting now and ready to pass the Star Trek<\/em> baton to Zachary Quinto<\/strong>. “I want to get off the stage,” he said. “Also, I don’t think it would be fair to Zachary Quinto. He’s a terrific actor; he looks the part, and it’s time to give him some space. And I’m very flattered the character will continue.<\/p>\n

“I’ve been doing this professionally for sixty years,” explained Nimoy. “I love the idea of going out on a positive note. I’ve had a great, great time.”<\/p>\n

Nimoy came to terms with being identified with Spock and with Star Trek<\/em> back in the 1980s. “I felt like Star Trek IV<\/em> was my personal statement on Star Trek<\/em>,” he said. In the end, Nimoy embraced the character which brought him fame and freed him up financially to do things that he loved. “Since Star Trek<\/em> began in 1966, I’ve never had to worry about where the next job was,” he said.<\/p>\n

Nimoy will concentrate on his photography, where he is becoming known for his photography skills as well as for his acting ones. Recently, when a fan approached Nimoy and Tom Hanks<\/strong>, Hanks asked who would take the photo. “Mr. Nimoy, you’re a wonderful photographer,” said the fan. “Would you take our picture?”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
