{"id":9756,"date":"2010-07-26T12:34:07","date_gmt":"2010-07-26T19:34:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/?p=9756"},"modified":"2010-07-26T12:34:07","modified_gmt":"2010-07-26T19:34:07","slug":"pine-wasnt-always-drawn-to-acting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trektoday.com\/content\/2010\/07\/pine-wasnt-always-drawn-to-acting\/","title":{"rendered":"Pine Wasn&#8217;t Always Drawn To Acting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Although he seems to be doing quite well as an actor, <strong>Chris Pine<\/strong> was more interested in sports when he was younger.<\/p>\n<p>Some actors know from childhood that they want to act, but for Pine, he didn&#8217;t discover acting until he went to college and got involved in theater. &#8220;It satisfied everything I enjoyed about using your mind and being in front of people and the charge of that,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><a href=\"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/Pine250-072610.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-9757\" title=\"Pine250-072610\" src=\"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/Pine250-072610.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"190\" height=\"250\" \/><\/a>A lack of talent in sports helped make the decision easy for Pine as he got older. &#8220;I played basketball and baseball,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I was no good by any stretch.&#8221; As for acting, &#8220;It was just a good fit for me. Ironically enough, I had been around it all my life.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Pine is currently back on the stage, playing an Irish terrorist in <em>The Lieutenant of Inishmore<\/em>, where he is on a quest to save his cat. According to Pine, working in the play is &#8220;like being a rock star.
