{"id":9783,"date":"2010-07-28T15:29:47","date_gmt":"2010-07-28T22:29:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/?p=9783"},"modified":"2010-07-28T15:29:47","modified_gmt":"2010-07-28T22:29:47","slug":"successful-fan-campaign-to-bring-masterson-to-sto","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trektoday.com\/content\/2010\/07\/successful-fan-campaign-to-bring-masterson-to-sto\/","title":{"rendered":"Successful Fan Campaign To Bring Masterson To STO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A campaign started by a fan on the<em> Star Trek Online<\/em> messageboards to have the voice talents of actress <strong>Chase Masterson<\/strong> (Leeta) included in <em>Star Trek Online<\/em> was successful and players can now hear her as &#8220;Holo Leeta.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The campaign began back in March, when the fan, <strong>Kirkfat<\/strong>, contacted Masterson and got her permission to try to convince Cryptic. &#8220;I&#8217;d love to do this,&#8221; Masterson said. Kirkfat started a thread on the STO messageboards to gather support.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><a href=\"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/STOSmall.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-9784\" title=\"STOSmall\" src=\"http:\/\/www.trektoday.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/STOSmall.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"106\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>At first, those involved with <em>Star Trek Online<\/em> told the fans that while they had no objection to the plan, not to get their hopes up. &#8220;They will contact her and see if this might be a possibility. &#8230; This doesn&#8217;t mean it will happen, in fact there is a very, very good change that it probably won&#8217;t. We don&#8217;t have huge budgets for VO, soooo there is a good chance that she might be too expensive.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Later, word came that<em> Star Trek Online<\/em> was &#8220;contact with Chase Masterson and do plan to get some audio recorded for &#8220;Holo&#8221; Leeta.&#8221; In May, Masterston let fans know that she had been contacted by Cryptic regarding her participation in the game.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, last week, fans heard the voice of Masterson as &#8220;Holo&#8221; Leeta.
