Adam Nimoy - Like Father, Like Son?

Being the son of a famous actor didn't make life any easier for Adam Nimoy.

As reported by L.A. Times, Adam Nimoy wanted to write a book about his struggles; ranging from alcohol and pot addiction to divorce, but what did an agent want? "Dirt" on growing up with Spock.

But part of the son's life was how his father's work affected his family, writes Adam Nimoy in My Incredibly Wonderful, Miserable Life. "Since the beginning, people have been coming up to Dad from every direction wanting something. Naturally, Dad had to be very guarded when dealing with these types of situations and often times he forgot to let his guard down when relating to me."

Like his father, Nimoy has struggled with alcoholism. After being married for eighteen years, he divorced. Nimoy writes about the failure of the marriage and the pain it brought which ranged from hostility from his daughter, to missing living with his two children and being part of their everyday lives.

Nimoy has finally forgiven his father and stopped resenting him for past behaviors. "I've never had much luck arguing with him," said Nimoy. "Have you ever argued with a pop culture icon? Have you ever argued with a guy who can cause a frenzy among thousands at a convention hall simply by performing a Vulcan hand salute?"

And of his own skills at being a father? Nimoy suspects that his son Jonah complains about him in therapy. "What's up with that?" he asks.
