When offered the role of Nero, Eric Bana simply couldn't turn it down.
As reported by Redorbit.com, the chance to play a villain was simply too delicious to turn down. "I couldn't resist," he said. "I read it and I know (director J.J. Abrams) pretty well and there was just no way to say no. It's just too much fun."
"I'm looking forward to playing a villain," Bana reiterated, speaking with The Daily Telegraph. "So it should be fun." Bana will be playing the role of Nero, a Romulan villain.
Bana's most recent role was that of Henry VIII, in the recently released The Other Boleyn Girl, a story of the sisters Mary and Anne Boleyn and their relationships with Henry VIII. The Other Boleyn Girl is based on the book of the same name by Philippa Gregory. Bana played opposite Scarlett Johansson and Natalie Portman, who play the rival sisters. The Other Boleyn Girl opened to tepid reviews as reported by Rotten Tomatoes.
