Boy's 'Star Trek' Dream To Come True

Offers of assistance have come flooding in after an article appeared asking for help for an eleven-year-old Star Trek fan with cerebral palsy.

As reported in The Northern Scot, after a story appeared in their newspaper last month as recently reported by TrekToday, offers of time and money have poured in to help create the Star Trek: The Next Generation-themed bedroom for Grant Alterton of Tomintoul.

The Woodcentre in Elgin volunteered to provide materials for the bedroom makeover. Art teachers will volunteer their time and labor to help create the Star Trek-themed room. An American, who saw the story on the Internet, will send a three-by-two foot light-up Star Trek picture for Alterton's room.

Eddie Laing, Woodcentre boss said, "We saw the story in the paper and decided we would like to help. We have the materials and hopefully can encourage some tradesmen to help out as well. We just wanted to do something for the lad which we think will make a bit of a difference."

Jim Michie, founder of the charity Dreamz 4U, who appealed to readers of The Northern Scot for help, is delighted by the initial response. Dreamz 4U has helped over one-hundred and fifty children since they began a little over a year ago.
