Hello World!

Here's my stupid dilemma for the television season.

The Enterprise episodes "First Flight" and "Bounty" are scheduled to air on May 14 in a rare double feature. Naturally I'll be watching both of them so I can review them. At the same time, the WB will be broadcasting the Dawson's Creek series finale. DC has been my secret Wednesday vice since it moved to that night from Tuesdays after Buffy. It used to be my lead-in to Voyager because it always put me in a good mood.

Now I read via reliable spoilers that A Very Bad Thing will happen to one of the four main characters in the series finale. To quote the wonderful grammarians of the Warner Bros. advertising department, "One of them will lose their life". I hate it when television producers pull stuff like this. I learned from Voyager, Xena and La Femme Nikita that I would much rather never see a series finale than see an awful one. I don't trust television producers not to trash their own shows.

I have told myself that Dawson is not a show of which I am a serious fan. I don't care whether Joey ends up with Pacey or Dawson, would be perfectly happy if she decided to stay single, have no strong opinion on whether Jack should end up with a boyfriend or not, won't get worked up if Gayle remarries, don't really care whether Dawson sticks to his dream of becoming a filmmaker or decides to stay in Capeside and become a high school teacher. But I do not want to watch any of the characters dying.

Should I tape the finale? Or should I skip it, to make sure that I remember the show fondly?

  • Bittersweet Emotions On The 'Endgame' Set
Kate Mulgrew, Garrett Wang and Jeri Ryan talked about their mixed feelings as the end of Voyager approached. "It's fun and exciting to think about the future," Ryan told Ian Spelling. "And it'll be nice to play roles in actual clothing, with no corset." Mulgrew, for her part, said she found comparisons with previous Star Trek series odious.

  • TrekToday Spoils 'Endgame'
Sources revealed much of the plot of the Voyager finale to TrekToday readers, including the Doctor's name, Chakotay's death and Admiral Janeway's sacrifice to enable Captain Janeway to get her ship home in the face of a Borg attack.

  • Article: Unnatural Law
