Theatre Prepared Trinneer For 'Enterprise'

How does one prepare for getting pregnant, battling Suliban and falling under the influence of hallucinogenic pollen? According to Connor Trinneer ('Trip' Tucker), his theatrical training has seen him through all of Enterprise's many challenges.

"I've done a lot more theatre than I've done film and television and [Enterprise] is very theatrical," he told Kate O'Hare at Zap2it. "I would say it takes the baton of theatricality more than, say, a cop show. It's the willful suspension of disbelief."

Trinneer said he gained confidence through studying and honing his craft. "In grad school, in drama school, they force you to take risks. Hell, I was already pregnant [in 'Unexpected'], and that didn't bother me one bit. What a great opportunity that was, and that's how I looked at it. I might have felt differently had I never been to drama school."

Learning to shed one's inhibitions is a vital skill for actors, something Trinneer is already familiar with on Enterprise. After appearing in 'Broken Bow' clad only in blue Starfleet-issue underwear, the actor will once again strip down for the upcoming 'Acquisition'

"Literally, I don't say a word today," he said during the filming of the episode. "I'm just running around in my underwear."

Although series star Scott Bakula (Captain Archer) always seems to get the girls, there could be some romance for the engineer in the near future . "Next week, I guess I finally get to meet a girl," Trinneer said of the episode 'Oasis', adding that he doesn't discriminate on the basis of species. "If she's an alien like the other one, who cares?"

The full interview with Trinneer, in which also he talked about the development of his character, can be found here at Zap2it.
