Fans, Actors Split on 'Enterprise' Fate
By MichelleMay 10, 2004 - 7:29 PM
Could Enterprise go "where no 'Star Trek' series has gone before, at least not since Capt. Kirk and company: cancellation after only three seasons"?
That's the question asked by Dave Mason in a syndicated article appearing in Fort Wayne's Journal Gazette, warning, "3 seasons of ratings lull could dock ‘Enterprise.’"
Fans both supporting and expressing disdain for the series spoke about their feelings, including The Enterprise Project's efforts to save the show and the views among some fan club members that Enterprise cares less about franchise continuity than ratings, scheduling and production values.
Jolene Blalock (T'Pol) expressed some concern that the social issues of the series may have been introduced too late to influence the ratings, but John Billingsley (Phlox) sounded confident that the studio would want to renew the series to recoup its investment and UPN would follow Viacom's wishes.
