Quinto Appearance on VH1 Comedy Show

Taking on the role of Spock meant learning how to do the "Live long and prosper" hand sign properly.
As seen on You Tube, Zachary Quinto discussed working on Star Trek XI in-between the joking around by the host of the faux "KBom" radio station on VH1's Free Radio comedy show.
He described his Star Trek XI interview process. "I went in, I didn't read for J.J. [Abrams], he saw my tape," said Quinto. "I went in one time for April Webster who is the cast director, who is awesome and really is a huge part of why I got this job because she was so supportive of me during the process.
"It's a great cast. I mean I'm so excited," he added. Quinto could not go into specifics of the movie due to the secrecy of the project. Instead he admitted that making the "Live long and prosper" split-fingered hand sign was not something that came easily to him. "I could not do it," he said. "I had to rubberband my fingers together and exercise the muscles." He proceeded to show that the exercises had paid off, flashing the now famous Vulcan gesture.
In other Star Trek XI news as reported by Sci Fi Pulse, Anton Yelchin expressed his enthusiasm regarding his role. "Most of the money is going into making it [Star Trek XI] look awesome," he said. "You have to realize how epic it is. That word is so overused, but we were shooting on the bridge and you sit there thinking, 'I'm on the Enterprise!' Would I ever have thought I'd be on this set? Never!"
Yelchin assures fans that "My accent is great! But you’re going to have to wait and see."
