Scott Bakula Visits Enterprise Sets

After signing on for Enterprise, Scott Bakula wasted no time jumping into his role as Trek's new leading actor. On Thursday he reportedly already participated in his first script reading, and yesterday he gave his first-ever Star Trek interview, directly from the sets of Enterprise.
Bakula visited the sets together with Paramount executives Kerry McCluggage and Garry Hart, together with whom he also worked on the Quantum Leap television series. The actor told Zap2It he was looking forward to working with them on Enterprise. "It feels good, and boy, they're nice people there. They've made me feel very welcome. They're all very appreciative of me. Now let's go make the darn thing."
Besides meeting his fellow actors, Bakula also had to participate in some more mundane activities such as costuming. But the actor said he's very pleased with his new uniform. "I have had fittings. I look like a guy in a uniform. I look pretty darn good."
The actor mentioned he'd thought of a nice way to reconcile his work on Quantum Leap and on Star Trek. "The best way to please everybody would be to make my middle name Beckett and just let everybody put it together," he said. "I threw it out there. It wasn't met with a lot of response. It's a possibility. It would certainly get people to talking. Who more logical, right? You would think that's where the Beckett genes would land, at some point."
Already now, Bakula's Quantum Leap fanbase is responding very favourably. "I have been greeted by people all over the country already with a lot of elation and excitement," the actor said. He thought 'Leapers' and 'Trekkers' would have no problems getting along. "We're already getting faxes from Leapers around the planet, who are excited. Hopefully they can put aside the roles and just be happy to see me once a week again."
And who knows, maybe we'll even get to see a few more Quantum Leap elements, such as a guest appearance by Dean Stockwell. "I thought about that," Bakula revealed. "Wouldn't that be fun?"
