'Star Trek XI' Promotion Revving Up

More information is coming out about Star Trek XI, including a promotional tour beginning in Europe.

As reported by MTV, Star Trek XI won't be a long movie. "It will be a two-hour movie," said J.J. Abrams. Abrams went on to explain that he didn't care for long movies. "I'm sick of these two hours and forty-five minute movies. Seriously, it's like I don't have enough time to stay two hours and forty-five minutes. I'm exhausted just saying that twice. I can't stand it."

Meanwhile, Star Trek XI marketing has begun, with the release of photos today. And there is speculation at TrekMovie regarding the anticipated new trailer. According to TrekMovie, "Reading between the lines, indications are that (as guessed by many) the new 'Star Trek' trailer will likely precede the new James Bond film 'Quantum of Solace,' which premieres November 14."

In addition to the new trailer, Star Trek XI film portions will be shown to European journalists by J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk in a forthcoming tour, which will include cities such as Madrid, London and Paris. It is anticipated that there will be an American tour as well as the European one.

Another lucky soul may have been privileged to have seen Star Trek XI early. Edgar Wright, a friend of Simon Pegg, claims to have seen a "summer 2009 release," according to CanMag. What did Wright think of the movie? "I can't say much more than that, except that it delivers all the goods sorely lacking from a certain trio of prequels."
