Ever wanted to watch William Shatner's favourite films? Well, now you can! The Kirk actor announced that he is launching a DVD club.
"As a lifelong and passionate movie fan, I have often thought it unfortunate that some of the very best movies go unnoticed by the fans who would appreciate those films the most," Shatner noted on his official web site. "I created this DVD club so that people who share my love of Sci-fi, Fantasy, and Horror can discover these unheralded gems."
Shatner added that he had personally selected a collection of "great films with compelling, original stories...and the intangible qualities that separate a memorable film from the pack." He said that fans would be able to acquire the DVDs "for about the cost of a rental at the local video store" - currently $4 per DVD, according to the William Shatner DVD Club.
"There is nothing quite as exhilarating as discovering a sci-fi, fantasy or horror classic-to-be that has gone unnoticed by the general movie watching population," Shatner explained.
The first film selection is Immortal, based on the French graphic novel Immortel ad Vitam, a story about Egyptian gods, mutants, mortals and aliens with a cast that includes Charlotte Rampling. The club site noted that a complete list would not be made available to the general public, only to members.
