'Angels & Demons' To Be Delayed

The writer's strike has caused the release date of Angels and Demons to be pushed back to spring of 2009 from its original date of Christmas 2008, the same month as the upcoming release of Star Trek XI.
As reported in Variety, Angels and Demons will not be screening in December 2008 due to problems with both casting and contract issues.
The script was rushed in hopes of beating the strike, but problems with the contract delayed getting it finalized and signed before the strike date. In addition to that, casting had barely progressed with only Tom Hanks having been signed for the movie.
Shooting was to have begun in February of 2008, with the release date being Christmas of the same year. It is uncertain when shooting will resume, but a release date of May 15, 2009 has been set.
