Kate Mulgrew On Voyager End & 'Shattered'

Debora Fisher at the official Star Trek site has put up a new interview with Kate Mulgrew, who of course stars on 'Voyager' as Kathryn Janeway.

In the first part of the interview, Mulgrew as well as Voyager executive producer Kenneth Biller talk about how Janeway will have to face the ramifications of several of her earlier decisions. As was previously revealed, one of the episodes in which this will be happening is the November telefilm 'Flesh and Blood', in which the crew finds out that the holodeck technology given to the Hirogen has gotten out of control. However, the article also contains the first mention on 'Shattered', a time-travel episode which will allow Chakotay to lead a Janeway from several years ago, before the ship was stranded in the Delta Quadrant, around on Voyager. "She'll face key moments in her past", says Biller on the episode, "and a few points in the future that will take place if they can't escape the anomaly that time-shatters the ship."

Later on Biller and Mulgrew again talk about the second half of the season, in which the U.S.S. Voyager will be getting into worse and worse shape and Janeway has to face the possibility that the ship might not be capable anymore of getting them home. Mulgrew also again says she'd like to see Janeway sacrifice herself at the end of the series. StarTrek.com itself is also helping with the increasingly obvious suggestions of Janeway dying, calling the article "Kate Mulgrew on Janeway's Final Journey". One might wonder if all this hype isn't intended as a smoke screen - killing Janeway is beginning to look a bit too much like the obvious way to go.

In the rest of the interview, Mulgrew talks about her own acting background, and the various roles she has played over the years. Finally, she also talks about how she feels about Voyager ending. Click here to read it all.
