Stewart Responds To Trek X Leaks

Patrick Stewart (Jean Luc Picard) recently commented on the numerous leaks of information about 'Nemesis.'
"I know there have been all kinds of rumours about different cast members being killed off," Stewart told Star Trek Monthly. "And I know the script has appeared on the internet and so forth - but it's no fun if you know. I've never been able to understand why people are so anxious to know what happens in a movie. I would hate that!"
But despite this, the actor was confident fans would enjoy the movie. "I don't think they are going to be disappointed," he said.
He went on to address claims that 'Nemesis' might be too similar to 'The Wrath of Khan.' "I actually don't see a parity at all," he said. "I think what we have with 'Nemesis' is really quite distinct."
How does Stewart think Picard has grown since he first took to the command chair? "It's so hard for me to analyze like that," he explained. "For one thing, it was a long time ago. He became a little more relaxed, more humourous, certainly more romantic, at times more passionate and political.
"The most significant thing was we relaxed him as a character, but the man who appeared in 'Encounter At Farpoint' is still essentially the same Jean Luc Picard who is fighting the Romulans and Remans in this latest movie."
More from Patrick Stewart can be found in issue 97 of Star Trek Monthly, on sale now in the UK. Extracts have been made available online here at Scifi Pulse.
