New Robert Picardo Projects Announced

By Christian
January 23, 2001 - 12:45 PM

Robert Picardo (the Doctor) was recently interviewed by E. Cristy Ruteshouser, president of the Central Alliance of Robert Picardo Enthusiasts, for an article that will appear in the next issue of that fan club's newsletter. Over at TrekWeb, a preview of that article is now available, containing several interesting new news items about the actor.

In the first place, Picardo will be appearing in the February 14 episode of 'Seven Days', the UPN show airing right before 'Voyager'. According to Picardo, he will be playing "the ultimate villain" in the episode, which will be called 'Revelation'. Filming took place during the third week of January, and the actor told CARPE that he had a lot of fun working on the episode. "I enjoyed working with Jonathan LaPaglia and the rest of the cast," he said. "They asked me to do two promos, and I made up a third one of my own." Picardo isn't the first Voyager star to appear on 'Seven Days' - last year Roxann Dawson (B'Elanna Torres) also guest-starred in an episode.

Perhaps more interesting for Voyager fans is the news that Picardo is working on a new Star Trek book for Pocket Books, to be called 'The Hologram's Handbook'. He's writing the book together with Jeff Yagher, who played Iden in 'Flesh and Blood', and they're hoping to have the book published in 2002. Unlike most other Star Trek books written by actors (such as Andrew Robinson's 'A Stitch In Time' and Ethan Phillips' 'Star Trek Cookbook'), this book will be "just [a] humor book", according to Picardo. It will of course be based on his character in Voyager, and will consists of essays as well as 'Far Side'-style cartoons by Yagher.

The full interview will be published in an upcoming edition of CARPE's newsletter. Information on how to become a member of the club can be found here.
