Several German Trek news items today, courtesy of Corona WebBEAT:

  • Robert Neubinger, a member of the Communications Services Department of Sat.1, the German station showing Trek, has sent Corona a letter reacting to recent fan criticisms about their handling of Voyager episodes. Many fans complained about the station cutting scenes from episodes, blending the end of a scene with the start of a commercial block or 'speeding up' episodes, all in order to sell more advertising space. In the very reasonable letter, Neubinger explains that, unlike public or pay-per-view television channels, Sat.1 has to cover its costs and make some profit purely from advertising. Due to the difference in American and German regulations about when and how much commercials may be shown, Sat.1 is sometimes forced to 'time optimise' episodes. You can read the letter by going here.

  • The official Galileo-7 web site has been updated with a letter by Jens Stegemann of Star Events, the organiser of the regular German Trek convention. In the letter, Stegemann informs the fans Star Events' creditability is no longer guaranteed. He does promise, though, that despite these problems fans who already bought tickets for the next Galileo convention will get a Trek con.

  • Over at SF-Radio.de, they've put up edition #25 of TrekMINDS, edition #18 of Audio51 and edition #4 of Trek Tiraden.
