Hello World!
One of my favourite actors passed away yesterday - Sir Nigel Hawthorne, star of the TV series Yes, Minister and Yes, Prime Minister. Although he had numerous other roles on the stage and screen, Hawthorne will always be remembered as the cunning, conniving and oh so very droll mandarin Sir Humphrey Appleby.
With the death of Paul Eddington a few years back, that leaves Derek Fowlds as the only member of the series's 'Big Three' still alive. But although some of the jokes may eventually date, the constant fight against needless government bureaucracy is something we can always sympathise with.
Goodbye, Sir Nigel - we'll miss you.
