Stewart: Doing A Syndicated Sci-Fi Series Was Not Slumming

1 min read

In the days before Star Trek: The Next Generation premiered, Patrick Stewart was annoyed by the suggestions of the press that he was not utilizing his talents to the fullest.

As reported by the TimesOnline, Stewart “became increasing irritated by the suggestion from the media…that given my background…that I was in a sense, ‘slumming,’ by doing this syndicated, science fiction television series.”One day, he had had enough, and answered back. Not only was he proud to work on Star Trek: The Next Generation, he told the reporter, but “all those years of working for the Royal Shakespeare Company…sitting on the throne of England, was nothing but a preparation for sitting in the Captain’s chair on the Enterprise.”
