Star Trek Alumni Emmy Nominations

The 61st Emmy nominations have been announced, and several familiar Star Trek names are on the list.

As reported by Emmys TV, William Shatner has been nominated again for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his role of Denny Crane in Boston Legal. This is Shatner’s sixth nomination for his portrayal of Crane. Twice before Shatner has won the Emmy; once in 2004 for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for The Practice, where Denny Crane was first introduced, and again in 2005 in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series category for his portrayal of Crane on Boston Legal. Others associated with Star Trek have been nominated as well. Lost, co-created by J.J. Abrams and Damon Lindelof, has been nominated for Outstanding Drama Series.

Lindelof has also been nominated for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series, for Lost: The Incident, along with co-writer Carlton Cuse.

Ronald D. Moore was nominated for the Outstanding Special Class – Short-format Live-Action Entertainment Programs. Moore was one of the executive producers for Battlestar Galactica: The Face of the Enemy, a ten-part series of webisodes.

The winners for the Primetime Emmys will be announced at a ceremony held at the NOKIA Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 20th. The Primetime Emmys will also be televised on CBS, from 8-10 PM EST.
