Environmentally conscious companies have been asked to donate too. Roddenberry would like eight corporations to each donate $10,000 and adding that to the $20,000 from Roddenberry and individuals, will add up to $100,000.

Roddenberry is a volunteer with the San Diego Oceans Foundation as a “Ocean in Motion Marine Science Education and Snorkeling Program” volunteer. He started his own Roddenberry Dive Team, details of which are located here.

The challenge runs through the end of the year.
