Stewart Lands Role In Mamet Play

1 min read

Sir Patrick Stewart has one of the two roles in A Life in the Theater, a David Mamet play which will open on Broadway this autumn.

A Life in the Theater is the story of life in the footlights from the point of view of two actors, Robert and John, and their relationship.

Robert, played by Stewart, is an older, experienced performer who mentors the younger John. As the play progresses, Robert “falters as an actor and mentor, and John emerges as a mature actor.”

A Life in the Theater will be directed by Neil Pepe, artistic director of the Atlantic Theater Company.

Stewart is no stranger to the role of Robert, having played him once before, in 2005 at London’s Apollo Theater.

Rehearsals for the play will begin August 23 and it will probably open in September.
