Pine Takes On Jack Ryan Role

1 min read

Following in the footsteps of Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford and Ben Affleck, Chris Pine (James T. Kirk) will try his hand at playing Wall Street stockbroker Jack Ryan.

Ryan, created by author Tom Clancy, has appeared in a dozen novels, including The Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger and The Sum of All Fears.

This Paramount movie, tentatively titled Moscow, will supposedly not be directly based on a Clancy novel, but will take place in a period of time after Ryan’s Marines hitch and before the character joined the CIA. Ryan will be a Wall Street stockbroker. Ryan was a financial analyst for Merrill Lynch in the Clancy novels.

In Moscow, Ryan will be transferred to Moscow to give financial advice to a billionaire employer, who will set Ryan up to take the fall for a terrorist plot designed to destroy the U.S. economy.

Ryan will have to race against time to clear his name, save his wife who is being held hostage by the billionaire employer, and reveal the terrorist plot.
