No Original Series Actors In Star Trek 2
2 min readFor fans hoping to see William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy or other actors from the original series in Star Trek 2, it looks like you’re out of luck. Plus: the possible return of Captain Pike, and an Abrams Star Trek 2 progress report.
The word over at Showbiz 411, from a “source close to the next film,” claims that none or the original series actors would be returning for Star Trek 2.
However, a guest star from Star Trek XI may be returning. Blastr reports that a part has been written for Bruce Greenwood. “Spoiler alert,” Roberto Orci told TrekMovie readers. “We wrote a part for Greenwood. Let us hope he says ‘Yes!'”
Finally, J.J. Abrams gave a progress report on Star Trek 2 to MTV. “It’s a little early to be talking about Star Trek,” he said, but I will say that they wrote – the three writers, Damon, Bob and Alex – they wrote the most amazing script, and I’m thrilled to get a chance to direct it. It’s totally mine to screw up, so if you don’t like it, it’s completely on me.
“Our sets are almost done, so we’re going to go back and start shooting next month.”
Abrams also spoke about how the movie will be filmed. “We’re shooting on film, 2-D, and then we’ll do a good high-end conversion like the Harry Potter movie and all that,” he said. “Luckily, with our release date now we have the months needed to do it right because if you rush it, it never looks good.
“We were talking about [shooting in IMAX] and I would love to do it. IMAX is my favorite format; I’m a huge fan.”

This film cannot come soon enough for me. I extremely excited to see what J.J. has instore for the next adventure.
When he says the sets are almost done, I hope that includes a proper Engineering this time.

Wonderful news. I wouldn’t mind a smidge of Nimoy but I thought he had the perfect sendoff. Anyone else and it’d just be ridiculous IMO.

Anyone with any sense of Trek knows that no original series actors will be in it. They’ve done the handover via Spock, now it’s time for the new generation to do their thing.
But… some how these sites get exposure for saying something won’t happen.
Well, I can say that James Doohan won’t be in the next movie either. Nor will Ferengi #2 from as season one episode of TNG.
did not watch the first one so no reason to watch this one…maybe the next reboot will be better.
Oh come on. That’s ridiculous. Go watch the first one. It’s pretty good if you ask me.

Deathly Hallows converted quite well. Conversion can work if you have a DP who knows how to shoot for it and a director who’s not a total asshat.
Though you know what this should mean? fewer frakking lens flares! 3d makes them look triply stupid, and even JJ has to know that.
It’s actually good to know that they’re taking off ALL the training wheels and letting this one stand or fall on its own merit.
And how can you be sure Jimmy wouldna’ be in it? CGI and the Hollywood legal shark tank allows ANY deceased actor to be sodomized.

IMAX is a convuluted and over-exaggerated version of the original god-given blessing of Cinemascope.
If I wanted to sit so I have to break my neck vertebrae to see the whole screen…….well, I don’t.
