September will be a busy month when it comes to Star Trek comics.
IDW Publishing has announced its Star Trek comics for September 2012 and five different titles will be offered for eager Trek comic fans.
The titles include: Star Trek #13 The Redshirt’s Tale, Star Trek: Romulans Treasury Edition, Star Trek: The Next Generation Hive #1, Star Trek: The Next Generation/Doctor Who: Assimilation2 #5, and Star Trek: The Next Generation/Doctor Who: Assimilation2, Vol. 1.
In Star Trek #13 The Redshirt’s Tale, the story is told from the point of view of a redshirt on the Enterprise. Written by Mike Johnson, Star Trek #13 features art by Stephen Molnar and a cover by Tim Bradstreet. There will be variant covers, and Star Trek #13 will run thirty-two pages in length and cost #$3.99.
Next up will be Star Trek: Romulans Treasury Edition, which features three original series stories featuring the best aliens in the Trekverse. Written by and featuring art and cover by John Byrne, Star Trek: Romulans Treasury Edition will run seventy-two pages in length and sell for $9.99.
The Borg return in Star Trek: The Next Generation Hive #1, the first part of a four-part mini-series. In Hive #1, the Borg and their king, Locutus, have assimilated the entire galaxy. The only hope for a non-Borg future can be found in the past, courtesy of Captain Picard and crew.
Written by Brannon Braga and Terry Matalas, with art by Joe Corroney, the thirty-two page long issue will cost $3.99. A “Famous Borg in History” variant cover by David Messina will be available in addition to the standard cover.
Another TNG/Doctor Who comic will debut this month, Star Trek: The Next Generation/Doctor Who: Assimilation2 #5. In this issue, Picard is “forced to make the toughest decision of his life,” with the Doctor “trying to convince him to make the right choice.”
Written by Scott Tipton, Tony Lee and David Tipton, with art and cover by J.K. Woodward, the issue will run thirty-two pages in length and will cost $3.99. Variant covers will be available.
Finally, Star Trek: The Next Generation/Doctor Who: Assimilation2, Vol. 1 will gather together previously released titles in this crossover series. Written by Scott Tipton, David Tipton and Tony Lee, with art and cover by J.K. Woodward, Star Trek: The Next Generation/Doctor Who: Assimilation2, Vol. 1 will run one-hundred-and-four pages in length and will sell for $17.99.
