Shatner Disses Abrams

1 min read

William Shatner recently gave his tongue-in-cheek opinion regarding the news that J.J. Abrams will be directing Star Wars.

“I was just curious what you thought about J.J. Abrams taking Star Trek and Star Wars and if there’s a homogenization of sci-fi or if you think there’s enough for everyone,” the actor was asked.

“No, he’s being a pig,” said Shatner. “I mean he’s collecting the two franchises and holding them close to his vest. And he’s probably the most talented director of that ilk we have. But, he’s gone too far this time.

“I think of him as a buddy of mine; I’ve taken him out for sushi; I think it’s time for J.J. and I to have another sushi and let me put him straight about two of the largest franchises, and not employing me in either one of them. I think he’s just foolhardy.”

  1. There’s no dissing here. Shatner’s definitely having some good-natured fun with Abrams.

  2. The idea of Shatner being in a Star Wars film directed by Abrams is no only far fetched, but unrealistic.

  3. As the confused young man marvels at the notion that such an appearance could be possible, a certain communications officer of our acquaintance suddenly raises her phaser reminding him, “This isn’t reality, this is fantasy!” After a brief exchange, the hissing sound of a door is heard, accompanied by an awkward clearing of the throat as the young man stumbles into a cramped closet.

  4. Of course it is. Got your attention, right? I did say “tongue-in-cheek” in the first sentence. 😉

  5. Congrats on the misleading headline. While Shatner was clearly kidding in his opinion, he was still wearing his notorious ego on his sleeve. Having met the man before, it is not hard to detect that useless trait.

  6. They could even do a WoW crossover. “Hello, I’m William Shatner and I’m… a Sith lord.”
