Pine: Kirk Vs. Ryan

Actor Chris Pine explains the differences between the two lead characters of two different franchises.

Set to play Jack Ryan in Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, Pine explains how Ryan differs from Star Trek‘s James T. Kirk.

“I think the differences between the characters are pretty stark,” said Pine. “Captain Kirk is a brash, young guy, that likes the spotlight and likes to be the hero.

“Jack Ryan is much more of a quiet character who’s comfortable in a library or teaching or solving his puzzles. I think the real conflict for him is he has this compulsion to serve but he has to figure out where that place for him is and he finds himself in the front lines; he is reluctant at first.”

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit will be released January 17.
