The Smithsonian Magazine has broken a forty-four year tradition of never featuring living celebrities on its cover and its first celebrity is none other than a Star Trek actor.

Sir Patrick Stewart is featured on the May issue of the magazine.

The magazine’s “Future Issue” features Stewart on the cover, and includes an interview with the actor, which can be read here, in which Stewart shares his thoughts as to where “present-day society is headed.”

Don’t expect to see more celebrity coves, says Editor-in-chief Michael Caruso. The cover was “inspired by the role Stewart is playing by hosting the D.C. premiere of his new X-Men movie at the Smithsonian.”

“We don’t have any plans to do it again soon,” he said, “so please tell Kim Kardashian to stop calling.”
