Trek Screenwriter Washington D.C. Appearance
2 min readScreenwriter Morgan Gendel, who wrote the Hugo Award-winning The Next Generation episode The Inner Light, will be in D.C. to screen the episode and to conduct a writing workshop.
The free screening of The Inner Light will be followed by a discussion and a question and answer session.
Gendel wrote or co-wrote four Trek episodes, including two from The Next Generation (The Inner Light, Starship Mine), and two from Deep Space Nine (The Passenger, Armageddon Game). He has also written more than two hundred episodes of television, including Law & Order, MTV’s Spider-Man, V.I.P. and The Dresden Files.
The Inner Light screening will take place Monday, October 27 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the DC Public Library, Tenley-Friendship Branch on Wisconsin Avenue in Washington, D.C. To register for this event, head to the link located here.
In addition to the screening, Write the Next (Hypothetical) Sci-Fi TV Series how-to seminar for writers and sci-fi fans will take place the same week. For $175, aspiring writers can “be part of the ‘Writers Room’ and help create a hypothetical new series.” For an extra $75.00 on top of the original cost, attendees will receive “a custom analysis of your script or half hour consultation with Morgan Gendel.”
The writing workshops will take place at the Computing Research Association on 1828 L Street NW Washington, D.C. on Wednesday October 29 10:30 AM-4 PM (daytime workshop) and a three-evening workshop (attendance is required for all three evenings) Tuesday-Thursday Oct 28-30 from 7 to 9 PM.
