While doing press for his latest movie, Into the Woods, Chris Pine spoke briefly about Star Trek 3.

The actor is looking forward to beginning work on Star Trek 3 next year.

Pine does not know exactly when shooting will begin, but believed that they would be “shooting next year. I don’t know anything about the story but I haven’t read the script,” he said. “I am pretty sure there is a script but I haven’t read it yet.”

Even though he doesn’t have much in the way of details, Pine is eager to get back to work on the movie. “I just want to see my friends,” he said. “I want to work with my friends. We have such a great time together. I can’t wait to see what ridiculousness they throw us into. But above and beyond anything, they’re just a great bunch. We laugh a lot.”

  1. “I can’t wait to see what ridiculousness they throw us into.” – Chris Pine / Star Trek fans who have agreed to go see the next movie.

  2. OK, I know this is TrekToday, so I suppose any time the words “Chris Pine” and “Star Trek” bump into each other there is an obligation to report it, but I don’t know when the last time is I read such a contentless article. “I don’t know when we start shooting. I don’t know what the story is. I haven’t seen the script. Is there a script? I like to laugh.”

  3. yeah… something tells me he’ll be waiting *a bit* longer… LOL! ridiculousness indeed! =P

  4. I Am so Excited Justin Lin is Working on the movie as Director what he did in Fast and Furious was awesome I hope he brings that Action and Feel to the new Star Trek movie.

  5. I’m sure he’ll be happy to get back to kicking the warp core and playing a punk who captains a starship. What a caricature.

  6. In my attempt to be more positive here, I can’t blame a guy for wanting to hang out with his friends. I just wish their play date didn’t also trash on such a beloved franchise.
