A new webseries featuring George Takei and his husband Brad will debut next week.

The series is titled It Takeis Two.

“Brad and I have a new comedy web series,” said Takei, via his Facebook account. “It follows our lives as we navigate the perils of the Internet and other facets of modern life.”

The official description explained the series. “In this ‘reality’-series, actor and activist George Takei (Star Trek‘s Sulu) and husband Brad Takei navigate their daily lives, from the internet and Broadway to jetpacks and human hamster balls. With a recipe that is one part optimism and one part pragmatism, this dynamic duo overcomes life’s obstacles, reminding us that any great enterprise Takeis Two.”

A teaser gives an example of what to expect. Brad finds a “mean meme” of himself on the Internet and “goes to extreme lengths” to get it removed.

“We’ve been in pre-production for a while now,” said Brad Takei. “We open our lives and hope people to get comfy with us. It’s all New York-based. We’ve done six episodes, which run five minutes or less.”

It Takeis Two begins next Tuesday, and can be seen on Takei’s YouTube page.

  1. Brad Takei? I thought George was the wife.

Can’t imagine why I would have assumed that.

  2. Have Mercy on us! Isn’t there anyone else you could report news about. Are there Takei fans behind this website, or is this just a coincidence that every other day there are news re. this man who I used to like but who gets on nerves endlessly nowadays???

  3. Why is the Brad cartoon holding the George cartoon like a baby? I miss the day s when George was only known as Sulu and his Heroes guest spots. His new stuff is getting weird.

  4. Watch the teaser. Makes sense then.

The credits are a nice riff on Bewitched, actually.

  5. Takei came out a few years ago because he realized one day that he didn’t have any fans and needed to do something drastic.

  6. Real life Bert and Ernie. Is this where Brad discovers that Captain Sulu has his own manual steering column that rises up on command?

  7. Being gay was the only way to make him relevant I guess. I’d just love to see at least one story about the man that have zero mention of his sexual appetite. Is that really all there is to the man? I’m starting to wonder…

  8. I write what’s out there. Nothing more, nothing less.

And what appeals to one fan, might not to others. Sometimes I write stuff that my readers like but that bores me. Other times, I write something and go “wow, this is a cool story.”

It varies. But I can only write what’s out there. There’s not exactly a plethora of Trek-related news out there other than when a movie is in production (and even then, they do their best to keep things secret) and pretty much, it’s actor news (other projects) and merchandise.

Takei just happens to be front and center recently.

  9. P.S. I’ve met him and personally he’s a nice guy. That doesn’t affect what I write in any way though. I write about people I don’t necessarily like.

  10. Nice to see George doing something other than bashing Shatner or exploiting an issue to get exposure.

  11. Didn’t Bewitched basically have the same thing happen? Surely it’s not only weird when it’s two men instead of a man and a woman… 😉

  12. Well there used to be. He used to be very outspoken about the internment of Japanese Americans during WWII, and by extension civil liberties in general. He’s also spoken against Japan’s refusal to acknowledge their crimes against POWs, and Chinese and Korean civilians. But I guess playing a flaming queen on Howard Stern is more important to him now.

  13. Um, he’s still quite vocal about Japanese internment. He made a musical about it called Allegiance. It’s opening on Broadway on November 8. He does lots of things, and advocates for many causes.

This show isn’t likely to be about his “sexual appetite,” just his marriage, of which references to sex may be a small part.
