1 min readStar Trek: Deep Space Nine‘s René Auberjonois will be appearing next year on Broadway in She Loves Me.
Auberjonois will join Laura Benanti, Josh Radnor, Jane Krakowski, Nicholas Barasch, Peter Bartlett and Gavin Creel in the production.
In She Loves Me, Georg (Radnor) and Amalia (Benanti) are two parfumerie clerks who don’t get along. “But little do they know, the anonymous romantic pen pals they have both been falling for happen to be each other! Will love continue to blossom once their identities are finally revealed? The score features favorites such as Vanilla Ice Cream, A Romantic Atmosphere, Dear Friend and She Loves Me.
She Loves Me is based on a play by Miklos Laszlo, which was also the basis for James Stewart’s 1940 The Shop Around the Corner and 1998’s You’ve Got Mail.
Auberjonois will take on the role of Maraczek, the owner of the Parfumerie. Auberjonois is no stranger to the stage, and in 1970 he won a Tony (Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Musical) for his work in Coco.
She Loves Me will be directed by Scott Ellis. Previews will begin on February 5, 2016 with an opening night at Broadway’s Studio 54 set for March 3, 2016.
