Juday Passes
1 min readPenny Juday, longtime Star Trek art department coordinator who also served as an archivist, has died at the age of sixty.
The cause of death was colon and liver cancer.
Juday worked on Trek from the days of Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country through Star Trek: Nemesis. Her time on Trek included the entire run of Deep Space Nine.
Part of her job was to keep track of “everything and anything Trek-related.” This included “sets, props, photos, blueprints, miniatures/models and more.”
Well-liked, Juday had cameos in Star Trek: Insurrection and Star Trek: Generations and a character (Ensign Penny Juday) was named for her on Deep Space Nine.
Juday is survived by husband Anthony Frederickson.
How sad… for me particularly poignant as I really enjoyed her feature on the TNG Blu-rays and wondered what she was up to… I Goggled her to find out what she was up to. Found out she was a navy veteran and running her own jewellery shop. So sad to read this just months later.
Really sad to hear. She was a great voice on the behind-the-scenes features and she seemed like she had one of the best jobs of all involved in Trek. RIP, Penny.
