IDW Publishing June 2016 Trek Comics

Four Star Trek comics will be released by IDW Publishing in June of 2016.

The titles include: Star Trek: Countdown Collection, Vol. 1, Star Trek: Countdown Collection, Vol. 2, Star Trek #58—Legacy of Spock, Part Four, and Star Trek: Manifest Destiny – Spotlight.

Star Trek: Countdown Collection, Vol. 1 “gathers together stories leading up to Star Trek (2009). In that movie, audiences were introduced to Nero, the mysterious Romulan who ultimately threatened the survival of the entire universe. Find out his origin story and what drove him to perform such heinous deeds as well as what he did in those cold, dark, lonely years he spent waiting for his nemesis to arrive.”

Written by Mike Johnson and Tim Jones, with art by David Messina, and a cover by John Watson, Star Trek: Countdown Collection, Vol. 1 will be one-hundred-and-eighty-four pages in length and will cost $24.99.

Star Trek: Countdown Collection, Vol. 2 finds “the crew of the Enterprise becomes embroiled in a decades-old conflict between two factions of indigenous people on a remote planet. The flames of their conflict have been fanned by the unexpected presence of a former captain of the Enterprise, long presumed dead. Plus, witness the shocking origin of Khan Noonien Singh from his earliest years through his rise to power during the epic Eugenics Wars and behold the events that led to his escape from Earth aboard the Botany Bay.”

Written by Johnson, with art by Messina, Claudia Balboni and Luca Lamberti, and a cover by Watson, the two-hundred-page issue will sell for $24.99.

Next up is Star Trek #58—Legacy of Spock, Part Four. In this issue, “the fate of the Vulcan people hangs in the balance while Spock tries to prevent all-out war with the Romulan Empire. Will the Vulcans find a new homeworld on which to rebuild their civilization…or does this spell the end of their species?”

Written by Johnson, with art and a cover by Tony Shasteen, the thirty-two issue will cost $3.99. A subscription variant cover by Alberto Silva will also be offered.

Wrapping up June will be Star Trek: Manifest Destiny – Spotlight. In this all-new adventure, “Captain Kirk and the crew of the Starship Enterprise come face to face with a new Klingon threat…with the fate of the galaxy at stake.” In addition, this issue will also “the Klingon Language version of issue #1!”

Written by Johnson and Ryan Parrott, with art and cover by Angel Hernandez, the one-hundred-and-thirty-six page issue will cost $19.99.
