Star Trek: Bridge Crew Adds Player Voice Interaction

1 min read

Fans playing Ubisoft’s Star Trek: Bridge Crew later this summer will be able to use their own voices to interact with the virtual crew members in the game.

IBM’s VR (virtual reality) Speech Sandbox is the software used for this feature which combines IBM’s Watson Speech to Text and Watson Conversation.

Using the feature, players will be able to “give direct, interactive speech commands to virtual Starfleet shipmates.”

“We have been eager to find the right way to use interactive speech to tap into the more immersive and interactive experiences that VR offers,” said David Votypka, Sr. Creative Director at Red Storm Entertainment. “Watson gives Captains in Star Trek: Bridge Crew the ability to issue commands to non-player crew members in the same way they do with a human crew; by using their voice.”
