Dick Miller, who guest-starred three times on The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine, died yesterday at the age of ninety.

Trek fans remember Miller in The Next Generation‘s The Big Goodbye, where he played a news vendor in the holodeck episode; and in Deep Space Nine‘s Past Tense Parts I and II, where he played Vin, a security guard who was taken hostage during the Bell Riots in San Francisco Sanctuary District A.

Miller was born in the Bronx on Christmas Day, 1928. He was in the Navy before attending the City College of New York and Columbia University.

In 1952, Miller relocated to Los Angeles, where the character actor began a six decade career, including more than one hundred and seventy-five movies, and over two thousand television shows.

The cause of death was natural causes. His wife Lainie, daughter Barbara, and granddaughter Autumn were present when he passed.
